Travels to Cali via Boondockers Welcome

So, I mentioned our  first trip and basically the trip that threw us into FULL time bus life was to California from Columbus, Ga. We planned a week trip to Cali spend a week IN California to visit Griselda's mom and Nana, then take our time heading back east (that ended up getting sped up due to needing to empty the house and move the boys into their apartments.   So we packed up the bus with everything we could think of for a trip across country. We used Boondockers welcome to set up places to stay every night. I was fine winging it, but wifey NOT so much (this changed on the way back).  We met some great people through Boondockers welcome and had safe spots to sleep and most provided plug ins that we may need. Our first stop was in Louisiana with a precious couple who made us homemade fresh bread and brownies. When we arrived, we chatted about traveling and then we all went to bed.  We woke early to get on the road to make it to the next destination. Gra...

houseless, not homeless

So, with our no build build we took the bus on camping trips and dreamed of the future build. I (Chelle) wasn't keen on my wife owning saws and blades etc lol and I am pretty minimal to my needs in a bus lol. I needed a bed and a bucket and was fine with jugs of water or using the water spigot at the campground or wherever. Wifey not so much lol she is the bougie one lol :p but I love her for it :D bc she has shown me that even with minimal skills SO MUCH is possible in a bus build! I love that we both can help make each other see things in different ways :D So, we purchased our bus in 2020 yep! RIGHT after the pandemic hit not knowing what the year really had in store. This was before any mask mandates but people were being semi cautious. It was April I was working two jobs at this time. One eventually shut down due to covid (school photographer). The other was a small office and I worked on the weekend with one other person and usually in a completely different office. Wifey wa...

We bought a bus (a year ago)

Yeah I know I am writing this in past tense, but just trying to catch y'all up in case you wanna know and I wanna document it (as much as possible) Good afternoon! Chelle typing as Griselda is driving through South Carolina ( almost exactly a year after we bought our bus (April 28, 2020) SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED since then but I do wanna write down my memories of buying a bus and catching y'all up and reminisce myself :D So, after a year of living together I KNEW that house life WAS NOT for me! or I at least needed something to be able to travel in with the doggies and more often (at the time we were both working weekend shifts so we had M-Th to do and go wherever we wanted :D) I was determined to buy a bus! We had been to every tiny home festival we could get to and even several RV shows (Griselda was convinced SHE wanted an RV~ and I was open to it just to get on the road~we can go into it later on all the reasons WE DIDN'T go with an RV) but we love anyone no matter how you...

Escobedontheroad blog begins

If you are here, you likely follow us on another platform or found us by accident lol so WELCOME to our travel blog and life! Lemme introduce us formally: We are Chelle and Griselda Escobedo :D hence ESCOBEDOntheroad :p *name came to Chelle one night after a 15 hour shift and an hour drive home trying to come up with our Instagram handle lol "Bed on the road" which was already part of our last name :D  This is Chelle writing this blog today so excuse my A D D brain but it is who I am lol! Chelle & Griselda met in 2019 via POF and hit it off and like true lesbians moved in almost immediately and got married in April of 2019 4/20 lol  I (Chelle) lived in a bus at that time on a friends land and had a job I loved doing graphics and office business managing for a company that ended up firing me for cutting my hair :/. While I was hurt and angry I know everything happens for a reason. I had more flexibility in my life after that incident. I loved bus life but due to that j...
