Travels to Cali via Boondockers Welcome
So, I mentioned our first trip and basically the trip that threw us into FULL time bus life was to California from Columbus, Ga. We planned a week trip to Cali spend a week IN California to visit Griselda's mom and Nana, then take our time heading back east (that ended up getting sped up due to needing to empty the house and move the boys into their apartments.
So we packed up the bus with everything we could think of for a trip across country. We used Boondockers welcome to set up places to stay every night. I was fine winging it, but wifey NOT so much (this changed on the way back). We met some great people through Boondockers welcome and had safe spots to sleep and most provided plug ins that we may need. Our first stop was in Louisiana with a precious couple who made us homemade fresh bread and brownies. When we arrived, we chatted about traveling and then we all went to bed. We woke early to get on the road to make it to the next destination. Grabbed some great photos along the way.
We did stay in a great RV Resort in Texas (best showers ever) *Whistle stop RV Resort. It was quiet and cozy. When we arrived, we Doordashed Cracker Barrel to the site bc we were too tired to think about cooking or cleaning. Texas is a LONG ride lol.
Our next Boondockers stay was a cozy desert hideaway. The host was gracious and welcoming and had a beautiful dog as well. We heard wolves howling sometime in the night, but felt safe and secure. We woke up the next morning with a horse at our back window, it was a pleasant surprise. Chatted with our host before we packed up to leave and filled up with water.
Following NM we headed on to Arizona to a National Wildlife habitat on Boondockers known for rattlesnakes, scorpions, and even a mountain lion in a tree possibility. This made wifey uneasy going out at night for the dogs and of course this night the dogs ended up sick most of the night, So we didn't sleep well lol But it was pretty and the sunset was sensational.
Our next destination was California! Here we stayed at Griselda's mom's for the week :D It was a great visit with yummy food :D
We HIGHLY recommend BW :D especially for new travelers who may need a lil more security to get use to being on the road. We NOW also recommend slowing down a lil taking a couple days or more in destinations because traveling every day to get to another destination is a bit much. You can't stop and smell the flowers as much if you are on a time crunch to get to your next stop.
